Friday was my scheduled parenting day. Earlier that week, my daughter's mother asked to switch parenting weeks. I advised her "I needed specific dates, not just we'll make up time later." Her proposal would have meant I gave up five of my parenting days in exchange for only one. I wasn't willing to agree to that. Her response was to show up at my daughter's school with several family members during my parenting time. And I'm glad I pulled out my phone the moment I noticed they were there because I captured the grandmother's reaction on video when she saw me pull up. You can judge for yourself what was happening, but from my perspective, they were there hoping my daughter would leave with them instead of following the parenting schedule and come with me. Thankfully, I had already provided the school with our custody order, and they knew it was my parenting day. Because of what unfolded, school security became involved, and the police were called. School security instructed everyone who wasn't supposed to be there to leave campus. As they were leaving, my daughter's step-grandfather took my daughter's hand as if he was going to escort her away. Security asked if he was with me, and I told them he wasn't. They immediately instructed him to let go of my daughter and leave the property. If you look in the background, you can see the mom and grandmother trying to escort my daughter away. I have to give School security props because they did the right thing and ultimately escorted my daughter and me to my vehicle so we could leave safely. But this is in an isolated incident because just two days prior, the mother was upset that I wouldn't agree to switch weeks with her so she showed up to the school and pulled my daughter out early just so she could get her. I've tried addressing situations like this through the attorneys, but too often it feels like nothing is addressed and nothing changes unless it's brought into the public eye. #custodybattle #parentalmanipulation #foryoupage
