W mans, that’s a great way to look at it. I don’t believe in God but I’ve never wanted to read the bible more until after I stopped believing in God, I just want to understand the topic further, and it’s likely important to do that whilst you still actually believe.

@Baxum if you read the bible please do a ton of research on the translations, NRSV-ue is a personal recommendation as a non-Christian who loves researching language. Some verses are still left in sadly, even if it’s proven they were added centuries after the bible was initially written but it has way less than any other traditional & full translation that I am currently aware of. It holds very true to the source material and is overall a phenomenal achievement for biblical scholars.

The only way to be a Christian is to put your trust in the lord Jesus Christ and believe he suffered died and resurrected on the 3rd simple. You don’t have to read the bible to believe it is good but not a requirement

You wouldn’t say Paul wasnt truly a believer in God after meeting him face to face would you? “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” Your actions aren’t the best indicator of being a true believer your heart posture is which only you and God know. Yes it’s hard to say you truly believe if you never pick up the book but your fundamental logic is flawed. Your lack of perfection shouldn’t tell you that you have a lack of belief it should strengthen your belief by showing you the vastness of his goodness and the helplessness of yourself. It should strengthen your faith by showing you your dependency on him
