Yeah this has happened to me, I didn't have my ID in my wallet (I left it on my desk after doing paperwork) and guess what, I said "oops, my bad, I'll get a soda" I was annoyed, but at MYSELF, not at the person doing their job and following the law! why is that so hard?!

I had this exact same situation. Manager gave the customer an AA pamphlet after a lengthy argument over it. We felt if they needed to make that big a scene over getting a drink there was a bigger issue

Not sure about the US, but in the UK you can get fined £5000 for serving alcohol to someone under 18, so no, you will not be getting your strawberry drink with sugar.

At my old restaurant once they were told to leave that's it, even coming back with the ID, once my manager said ok I'm now involved that was it. Loved and miss that manager

I had something like this happen once, they were upset but not nearly as mean. Manager approached me the next week and told me it was an undercover officer & If I hadn't follow protocol I would have been immediately fired, had my license removed and wouldn't have been able to serve alcohol anywhere for the next 5 years. Not worth it.
