This is gonna impact so many disabled people who need basic support to live. Like me for example I just want to live my life as an adult and have help to not drown in tasks I can’t manage on my own. I need help to do basic housework, run errands, go to appointments, complete basic adult things. My support workers help give me the independence to be able to keep living on my own which is safest for me. I’m physically disabled as well as I am neurodivergent and so my need for support workers isn’t just oh let’s go bowling or oh let’s go to the movies. If they cut funding like mine then I wouldn’t be able to get my groceries safely without potentially injuring myself from the heavy lifting. They never consider us when they think about these things. A lot of people seem to think the NDIS is spent on fun and games and outings when really I just need help to be a functioning adult. Not that I function too well on any given day but ya know. Cutting funding isn’t the answer.

$75.00 for an 8 hour shift doing a passive night is absolutely insane. I can’t believe in a country like ours Australia support workers have to leave their house for 8 hours to sleep in call at someone else’s property. They don’t sleep well Bec they could be asked to get up multiple times throughout the night.

If they want providers to be registered then they need to make that accessible for them too. No way is a sole trader who sees 10 clients a week going to be able to afford registration. Plus the NDIS are all talk anyway…ensuring all providers are registered will mean 10x the admin for them, which we just know they won’t be able to keep up with…

The registration process needs to be easier for independents. I would already be registered if it wasn’t so expensive.

There needs to be more detailed certificates and courses required if you're a support coordinator and support worker with a more defined scope of works for both. Set pricing, specific training and more defined scopes would reduce the fraud they say they're most worried about.

This is interesting as a provider and a mum of a child with a disability. I do agree with some aspects but not others. My son was born profoundly deaf and has rp. It was later officially diagnosed as ushers syndrome type 1b. We didn’t have a huge amount of funding but had intense daily therapy. He was officially diagnosed with autism at 13 years of age and his funding doubled. Now this is where I do agree case by case as we never used any of that funding for autism we used it for his hearing loss and vision as that was more of an impact on a day to day life. Fighting constantly for equipment that most kids got handed when on the spectrum. Now 18 we are using some of the funds for autism as he transition from high school year 12 to the workforce. I work with mental health clients as a provider so cutting funds could be challenging for them

I have never heard of anyone charging $150 an hour on weekends. We charge the same rate we charge during the week not it’s what have been hearing but wow.

I think it’s great that moves are being made to stop providers who don’t have the criteria’s In running a legit care company ! But I am worried for the participants who need the care , who rely on the care and who are benefiting from the support . Let’s hope that this brings good things for the ones in need 🤲🏻

If you didn’t have to pay $200 an hour for allied health services and it went back to $80 like it was that’s a huge saving the government could make. If the government weren’t so out of touch they would know what services were actually worth.

Social participation is very often for the provider not the client! How bout they actually do what the client wants to do and not what they want to do!
