@bramwoodhouse: Probably the best decision we ever made when taking this wall down. When we viewed the house originally, the first thing we said was this wall needs to come down and the ceiling needs vaulting. The old kitchen was long, dark and very seperate from the living spaces. After we bought the house I actually asked the estate agent why people didn’t want the house and the biggest reason was this wall! She said that people didn’t want the upheaval of knocking the wall down as the house was liveable before. We had the wall down within a week of starting all the work!
