Once the cervix is fully dilated, the baby moves down the birth canal with the help of continued contractions and the mother's pushing. After the baby is born, the umbilical cord is clamped and cut, and the placenta (afterbirth) is delivered within 5-30 minutes. The whole process is divided into three stages - labor, birth of the baby, and delivery of the placenta - and is typically assisted by a doctor or midwife to ensure safety for both mother and baby.
