One of my favorite exercises for developing flexibility and control in battements à la seconde. Using the foam roller adds an extra layer of challenge by demanding proper engagement of the obliques and glutes to support alignment throughout the movement. It also allows us to take full advantage of active flexibility, teaching dancers to own their range rather than simply reaching it. Stephie does an excellent job demonstrating the strength, stability, and control required to execute this exercise correctly. • Improves active flexibility in battements à la seconde • Strengthens obliques and lateral core stability • Develops glute engagement for safer hip support • Enhances control throughout the full range of motion • Reinforces proper alignment and movement mechanics Flexibility is most powerful when strength can support it.
