I made this video because a lot of people say “Japan is so safe,” and I just wanted to remind people not to take that at face value. I’m not saying Japan is more dangerous than other places— just that it’s important to stay aware anywhere.

There was this one girl with a story about how in Japan if you get doped and taken away by somebody with even minor influence, then local police will do absolutely nothing. That kind of stuck with me.

I remind my visiting friends that Japan is generally safe and a high trust society.... but if you're in areas saturated by non-Japanese from mixed non-high trust cultures, you're going to be way less safe.. bc both you and most around you are not part of a high trust network.
