As a finance student, I can confirm that both options are wrong. buy what you can afford with cash, even if it's junk. If you do this, your salary will truly be yours, and you'll be able to gradually improve your life. If you choose either of the options mentioned in the video, you're actually working for the benefit of finance companies, not yourself, because you own nothing.

Why would you want a 30k car while making 55k a year? that sounds ridiculous.

one thing that is completely overlooked is that a car is NOT an asset by any means , it's a liability

The moment he said lease I knew instantly that he would loose in the long run. But to be fair. Leasing gets you a new car every 3 years. No maintenance. No stress of breakdown. No worry of high maintenance bill if something breaks. So in the long long run lease wins. Yes owning a 11k after 6 years is nothing if you consider the wear and tear on th car. So choose. Pay monthly forever with no maintenance stress. Or own with the stress something will break eventually. Peace of mind or stress.

Or buy a 900 dollar car with maintenance costing 50 bucks a year that'll outlast anything new

So if you lease, like renting an apartment for a year, you can either move on or stay. But the coverage if something goes out, not coming out of my pocket..

This is not accurate, your car wont be valued at 10-13000 after 5 years if it cost 35.000 as new. Also not included the maintence over the 5 years. And still, only making about 150 less per month after 5 years on the old car.

You forgot to mention Marcus had to fix his car himself all the way for all these years. And half of the time he was driving an older model compared to the new one that the other guy leased

This is the stupidest TikTok I’ve ever seen, I bought a £20k car after a year it required over 10k in repair costs, I’ve now got a lease and have never been more stress free
