@hydroxide: Happy Earth Day! In partnership with the Glass Packaging Institute @Glass Packaging Institute , I’m breaking down packaging differences and recyclability. Have you ever wondered why pasta sauce can leave stains on your containers? #sponsored #foodscience #foodscientist #packaging
they stopped recycling glass where 8 live because apparently it costs to much from what they got out of recycling it??

Babanæ :
Glass being liquid at room temperature is a myth based on the fact that in old stained glass windows the bottom of panes would be thicker than the top so people though it was moving over hundreds of years when really it was just a byproduct of how it was produced. If I’m remembering correctly

Thanks for the chemistry. Also just because….you can easily remove the red stains pretty easily. Place a bit of dish soap and water in the plastic dish. Put a lid on it if you have one. Shake. I shouldn’t take long 30 seconds or so. It’s like magic. No lid for the plastics, no prob. Soap water and swish it.

sad you didnt talk about how to remove the stains from plastic tupperware. you just put some paper towel, water, and dish soap in the tupperware, then seal it up and shake it a bunch.

So what you're saying is my glass container will never take on the delicate flavors and warm memories from a dozen spaghetti dinners eaten over the sink? It's like how you shouldn't ever wash the bloom off the inside walls of your coffee maker, it add flavor.

I tossed out all my old mismatched plastic (that were regrettably not recyclable) and bought all glass containers, and I save glass of certain qualities like pasta and baby food jars to use for leftover sauces, soups, juices, and spices.
