@c5news: Ryan Rudd, 28, has been missing for over two months. Speaking to 5 News, his dad shared the heartbreaking texts that he still sends to Ryan's phone. Ryan, a soldier in the Army, vanished on February 15 after a night out in Selby - but it took two weeks for him to be reported missing from the barracks, a delay his parents say may have cost everything. Ryan's dad Ken, a former member of the Army, tells 5 News that "they're meant to do a nominal roll, and an electronic roll to cross-check, every Monday morning, to know who's on camp ... and they didn't do it for two weeks." Ryan's mum Kerstin says she has "walked around and around Selby" but "can't see that he could have gone into the river" - adding that "he wasn't in that frame of mind" to commit harm to himself. In a statement, the Army said: "We can confirm that Lance Corporal Ryan Rudd was reported missing to North Yorkshire Police on 1 March 2026. An investigation is under way and we are working with North Yorkshire Police who are leading this. We are unable to offer further detail at this time."
