I may have jailbroke mine and I couldn't be happier allegely, it's not just for cover screens or whatever, but also a customized reading experience I needed (fonts, changing from portrait to landscape, switching the tap zones and gesture controls, and the many ways you can upload books without dealing with Amazon's practices of editing/removing licenses of books and so much more)

I would say the main reasons for jailbreaking is a. you have a discontinued Kindle, 2. you REALLY REALLY want A LOT of customisation. 3. Your kindle is really old and you don’t really care what happens to it. Otherwise everything else you can get with the Kindle as is and there is no need to risk it.
