we knew Walmart and Amazon were the devil, we paid the higher prices at target because we thought they were better and were betrayed.

Walmart and Amazon dont get a pass, some of us just dont have specialty stores, accessible transportation, or money to spend. there is LITERALLY no ethical consumption but people DO need certain things to live

we feel the same way as employees. the cognitive dissonance from our corporate office is just sad. I used to be proud to work there.

We shopped at Target because we thought they were aligned with our values. Once they pulled the rug out from under us it was a huge betrayal.

Yes! They were the opposite of Walmart. Slowly they morphed into Walmart but with higher prices. They turned their back on their loyal customers/values. They ruined the in store experience by prioritizing drive up pick up. You can tell the employees are understaffed/ underpaid just focusing on filling mobile orders. My locations also close half their self check out lanes leaving really long lines since they don’t have cashiers

I literally spent $200-300 a month at target Now I think they’ve canceled my credit card because I haven’t used it in so long. They really didn’t know their shoppers and how much our values matter.

Target isn’t a necessity. Walmart is the only grocery store for some. We went out of our way to go to Target

Target is also very easy to boycott. Whereas Amazon and Walmart are the only options for a lot of people, especially rurally, boycotting is often not an option for a lot of folks. But Targets very rarely exist in places where they would be the *only* place to shop. And this was kind of the first major boycott that was that easy to actually join.

Exactly - Walmart was always a right wing hellhole, Amazon has been destroying small businesses for decades … Target was supposed to be better. Until they weren’t.

I worked there in the 2010s. what it is now is nothing like it was then. I mean things weren't perfect then but they have definitely gone drastically downhill. I haven't even been in one for a while even before they dropped DEI
