@thedrewlynch: I am a person who stutters. I used to think that because I didn’t grow up that way, that at age 20, it meant something was taken from me. Turns out it gave me something much more meaningful… perspective. Working with these kids at this organization has given me the opportunity to see their perseverance up close. These kids don’t show up and hide their voices. They commit to expanding them. And that kind of resilience doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like patience for themselves. Sometimes it looks like grace for others. SAY creates a space where people who stutter don’t feel like they have to rush, or accommodate, or be anything other than who they are. For a lot of them, it’s the first place they’ve ever felt safe. And that matters more than I can put into words… So today I say: Give others the space to be heard. Love fiercely. Accept blindly. And if you want to be part of something that’s bringing this initiative every single day, support SAY in any way you can. Make movement by being still. Love you all.
