What eve was going through mentally is understandable but that doesn’t stop it from being a selfish choice. If mark had died fighting conquest she could’ve ended up killing what little was left of him. And imagine getting news that mark died right after doing what she did, eve would’ve felt like mark died twice. Overall I understand where they went with this but I don’t agree with how they swept it under the rug and made mark blame himself about something he was unaware of.
