@dr.zac.spiritos: Mast cell activation syndrome is rarely a “random” problem—more often, mast cells are reacting to something upstream. One pattern I see frequently in clinic is a history of chronic infections, sometimes pointing toward an underlying immune vulnerability. Conditions like Specific Antibody Deficiency or Common Variable Immunodeficiency can make it harder for the body to effectively clear infections, leading to repeated immune activation. When that happens, mast cells stay on high alert, doing exactly what they’re designed to do, but in the process, they can drive a wide range of symptoms. What’s interesting is that when we identify and treat these underlying issues, whether that’s improving immune function or reducing infection burden, patients often feel significantly better. Not just because they’re getting sick less, but because the constant trigger keeping their mast cells activated is finally addressed. It’s a good reminder that mast cells aren’t the problem, they’re the responders. If they seem “overactive,” it’s worth stepping back and asking what’s keeping them activated in the first place. #mcas #heds #ehlersdanlossyndrome #hypermobility #dysautonomia

Okay but how do we get our family doctor or local allergist to take MCAS as a serious possibility… especially given it’s comorbidity to other things I have 😂

Went to an allergist. I have all of the MCAS symptoms but she wouldn’t diagnose me because labs were fine.

does mcas cause chronic low wbc and leukemia? Since having bariatric surgery, my levels have been very low, along with a lot of new food sensitivities and many GI issues.

I live in Canada. Would it be possible for me to come to your clinic for an initial consultation and treatments, and then do the rest via videoconference? Thank you.

That's the weird thing though. Since starting xolair, I haven't had a single cold/flu/covid/bronchitis etc in the last 4 years.
