I had this happen to it’s one moisture gets into the microphones and basically shorts out the entire device because the microphones go straight to the processor in terms of PCB traces

Its a known issue with Homepods called Phantom Touch. Just take it apart (instructions on youtube) and disconnect the touch panel on top and you’ll have no random music playing!

It just happened to me yesterday… thank you for the info. You saved me so much time contacting costumer service. It’s time to get a new one but you’re right. New products are coming.

I've had two out of my four do the same exact thing I didn't call Apple though I just threw it in the garbage. I even tried to connect it to my Mac and do a complete DFU restore it didn't fix it. I don't think I'm buying any new ones when they come out I really don't like them anyway they drop off the Wi-Fi all the time they always have.

By contacting Apple, you might be able to get it sent back and receive a replacement. Actually, it's a Ghost Touch issue, but enabling VoiceOver and long presses fixes it!

Check through the voice activation logs and make sure nothings going on to activate it. Also you’re better to just get a used one on eBay

Don’t throw it away. That happened to me too. I have 2 and had to disassemble them and just remove the flex cable of the touch path. You won’t be able to use obviously the volume up and down or even tap to pause music or the timers but everything else will work. You can use commands instead of you hung the top part. Very easy to fix.

This started happening to me around 2-3 weeks after the update. When it’s restarting put your palm on it and it’ll turn white instead of red. When it reboots go to your settings and remove touch to activate Siri. You can also remove the cable that’s attached to the touchpad.

I had the exact same issue. It would randomly start playing music at all hours, it would speak at random, etc. Same issue with it behaving as though someone had tapped the pad. Nothing I did, no matter how many wipes/resets, corrected the problem. The moment it rebooted it was back at it. Fortunately I still had AppleCare and was able to swap it out.

They had to replace mine for Wi-Fi issues. They’re designed to be thrown away and not designed to be repaired.
