for the yard, there is a tool called grandpa's helper that is so helpful. rips up the weeds without having to be stooped over.

You’re doing great! Does your city do a bulk trash pickup? If they do, it’s generally free and once a month. You can get rid of stuff a little at a time by just putting it on the curb. 👍🏼

my advice for the garage as a type A clean freak… start your prep slowly before you do the major clean out. Organize into piles of trash, keep, donate. List your donate pile on FB marketplace first then whatever isn’t sold by a certain day have a donation company pick it up (goodwill, habitat for humanity). Set a day for yourself that is the “clean out day” that will be when you get your dumpster, have your donation people come, etc.

Depending on how much you have to throw away, waste management has this thing called a bagster, i think you can get it at Lowe’s or home depot. You pay a much smaller fee than a dumpster and call when ready for it to be picked up. A lot of stuff in the garage people will take for free even if it may be broken.

Separate into keep, trash, sell. Then call dumpster rental places near you. Get rid of it as quickly as possible. Trust me. The longer it sits the more frustrating it is.

The most effective thing for weeds (in your grass) is using pre-emergent at the end of winter, before the grass becomes active again. I suggest doing this next year and it’s a lot less work than hand pulling weeds

We pay for a service that sprays our lawn at the beginning of the season and it makes the weeds soooooooo much more manageable, I’m assuming paying for a service would be more $, but

When getting rid of stuff you should donate as much a you can. The rest of the stuff, assuming you have curbside pick up, put a little bunch out each week until it's all gone

Dumpster rental is a life saver but shop around look for local businesses rather than chain type businesses. Locals are usually cheaper!

I’ve heard people splitting the cost of a dumpster with their neighbors. Not sure if that’s an option for you but it would be a heck of a lot cheaper if you can split it 2/3 ways.
