@sheetmetalsamurai: Stop Guessing Angles — Use This Simple Tangent Trick Most people think you need a protractor or fancy tools to mark angles… but you don’t. In this video, I show how to mark a perfect 30° line using nothing but basic math and a tape measure. All you need to know is: Take the tangent of your angle, multiply it by your length (or height), and that gives you your offset. Make your marks, connect the points… and you’ve got a perfect angle. This works for ANY degree — not just 30°. If you work with layout, fabrication, or carpentry, this is a game changer. #math #construction #trigonometry #metalfabrication #welding

If you do it off your phone you need extra steps. 30×5.625=166.875. Then press Tan then enter 30 it will = 0.5773502692 then × 5.5625 = 3.2115108724 Just incase you don't have a nice calculator.

30 60 90 triangles are pretty common in fabrication work. And you can calculate them just with √3 and 0.5. Tan30°=√3/3, Tan60°=√3, Sin60°=Cos30°=√3/2, Sin30°=Cos60°=0.5
