@ashira.paraskevas: Letting a parent back into your life after no contact is such a layered thing. It can be beautiful, healing, hopeful… and also deeply confronting. People do not talk enough about how hard it can be to reopen a heart that took years to mend, especially when that same person was the first to break it. For me, this has brought up grief, fear, flashbacks, tenderness, confusion, compassion, and courage all at once. It has made me realise that healing a mother wound is not a fairytale. It is boundaries. It is discernment. It is forgiveness. It is letting reality be reality. And it is slowly allowing your body and nervous system to find safety around the person they were once taught to fear. This path is not right for everyone, and I do not say that lightly. Not all parents are capable of accountability, and we need to be met halfway. But if this is something you are navigating too, I just want to say how brave you are. Truly. Things can be better now and still hurt because of what they once were. Both can be true. 🤍 Have you ever experienced this? #HealingJourney #MentalHealth #motherwound #traumahealing #selfawareness

just started this journey w estranged bio family after 6 years. opened window to seeing them. had to learn about regulation, emotional capacity, & clear boundaries. yes, very tricky. I'm taking it piece by piece. thank u for saying it's brave 🦋 does get challenging. seeking a balance of more joy, love than pain. we'll see..
