And honestly, it lived up to my expectations. It tells the story of a dreamer quiet, lonely, and almost trembling when he speaks to a woman. Then he meets Nastenka, almost like she appears in his dream, and for the first time, he falls in love. A kind of love he has never felt before. But the painful part is she’s in love with someone else. He mentions her name 138 times, almost on every page after he learns it. And yet, she never even asks for his. That contrast says everything. This book made me realize something: being attached to someone just because they give you the attention you’ve been longing for… doesn’t always end well. There’s something dangerous about love when it comes to someone who has been lonely for too long. I tried to read this book like four diferent times and i couldnt, it is the most boring, cliche book i have ever read. The main character is a patetic sad loser and i feel no simpathy towards him

One of the first classics I ever read. I loved it, to me, it kind of feels like maladaptive day dreaming, the narrator participates in the extreme version of maladaptive daydreaming, he resides in a world where everything goes his way, when nastenka left him, it was really heart breaking for him because he lived in a world where everything went his way.

I'm currently reading "the second night" part, and he's like a valve that burst the moment someone gave him a bit of attention. Seeing someone's kindness in rose colored glasses, mistaking it for passion. It's painful, realizing how lonely he was. His monologue with Nastenka got me thinking "TMI my guy", as beautiful as it was.
