The Architect is basically the Demiurge. Neo thinks he has a choice, but the Architect reveals it’s all part of a controlled system. Even the Oracle, like Sophia, subtly guides him down a path, so his “choice” was always influenced. It’s not about free will being real, it’s about becoming aware of the system controlling it. I’d also argue the true “anomaly” was Agent Smith. 🗣️

I remember when this came out. The amount of people who got angry because they couldn’t understand it was hilarious. Those of us coding, working in technology, or studying computer science, were absolutely ENTHRALLED, and our jaws absolutely dropped at this scene in the cinema. This scene alone and the logic it expresses as central to the entire trilogy is pure GENIUS in writing. To this day, this stands alone.

Architect's monologue - and it is monologue, Neo asks only one question - is the entire trilogy sublimated in little over 5 minutes. Logic and reason vs emotion and irrationality. A choice that broke the circle - risk the world for a chance to save one. As simple as that. Everything else is just vocabulary - albeit a damn good one.
