some of these might sound familiar… • buying healthy food with the best intentions… and then watching it go off in the fridge because you forgot it existed. • needing the tv on or scrolling on your phone just to get through a meal because eating feels unbearably boring otherwise. • putting off eating because nothing sounds “right”, then suddenly becoming so hungry that you eat everything in sight. • feeling like you’re either thinking about food all day or forgetting about it completely. • having phases where you eat the exact same meal every day for weeks… until one day it gives you the ick and you never want it again. • buying ingredients for meals you planned in your head, only to realise when it’s time to cook that you have absolutely no energy for it. • getting irrationally upset when your favourite food isn’t available because you’d already decided that was the only thing you could eat. for a lot of women, these aren’t just “bad habits” or a lack of self-control. adhd can affect dopamine, interoception (our ability to recognise hunger and fullness), executive function, and decision-making in ways that make eating feel surprisingly complicated. it doesn’t mean everyone who relates to this has adhd, but understanding the “why” behind these patterns can replace so much guilt with a little more compassion 🤍 for years i thought i was just bad at eating normally. i’ve gone through periods of bingeing, under-eating, and feeling completely confused by my relationship with food. learning how adhd can influence these things has helped me understand myself with a lot more kindness 🧚‍♀️🥰 #adhd #adhdfood #adhdwomen #adhdgirly #adhdproblems
