My baby has just been given 1200ml of the blood stem cells that were taken from my bone marrow after the most intense week of chemotherapy to prepare her body to accept my donation and suppress her white blood cells from rejecting and attacking them. I’ve been preparing for this moment for 16 years. The moment where my sister’s sickle cell anaemia is finally being treated and she can begin to heal from such a painful disability. My beautiful warrior princess was very exhausted from the chemotherapy and so she slept through the whole thing 🥹💕 but I was wide awake. As soon as my stem cells were injected through her Hickman Line, I felt so many complex emotions. But the most important was relief and gratitude to the team of amazing nurses who have been looking after her all month. My love is healing and it’s still a long road to recovery, but my sister is healing and this was the most important day of my life 🥹💕 #fyp #BoneMarrowTransplant #StemCellTransplant
