I loved Taiwan Travelogue, so good! The “twist” at the end made it a stellar novel. Also as a foodie….made me hella hungry lol.

very curious about the wax child, as i usually end up loving the same books as you. I saw you mentioning that you’d like to explore more books in portuguese - you should for sure try Blindness by José Saramago, I think it explores themes you usually enjoy (even though its a very depressing read 😅)

I am currently waiting for Wax child to arrive and I am interested in She who remains just because this theme is familiar to me, Accursed mountains are partially in Montenegro where I live. I also want to read The nights are quiet in Tehran and On earth as it is Beneath. I think some will be for my kindle because I am not sure if I’ll like any of them enough to have a physical copy and I have to order all of them and wait a month🫠

I loved the Wax Child! I also loved The Duke, which is my favorite among the ones I’ve read from the long list. I’m currently reading The Director, that seems to be loved by a lot of people, can’t wait to see what it’s about. So far from the short list, On Earth as it is Beneath is my favorite, but She Who Remains is a close one.

Our picks are so similar! Was Child felt like a fever dream. Women without Men I felt had more of a cultural impact than literary. And totally agree with you about Taiwan Travelogue as it’s a bit of a slog so far….. but will hold out for the ending !!!
