I still think a 30 minute lunch break for a 12 hour shift is diabolical

I got fired from my job for reporting I didn't get a lunch break, first time was a warning second time was the firing. Onward and Upward

Our time clock doesn’t even give us the option to say no we didn’t get a break

I’ve had multiple hospitals just automatically deduct. All of those places got sued and I got a check years later

In Oregon new legislation was passed that the hospital has to pay you $200 for every missed break. Even 15’s. It’s pretty great.

my hospital had a class action lawsuit and had to pay us Thousands each for retroactive missed breaks and falsely adjusting time sheets.

Yea ours makes a big fuss if we punch out no lunch. If I didn’t get a lunch, I’m not saying yes

nurses should get a 1 hour break every 4 hours or a 30 minute break every 2 hours. paid of course.

if you’re in ca, if you don’t get the uninterrupted lunch break you will need to get an extra hr of pay

If you lie about it, they will never staff to the point where you can take a lunch break. Always be honest.

I’ve worked two different places now where they automatically remove your 30mins and if you don’t have time to get one then you have to notify your supervisor DURING YOUR SHIFT and get written approval saying that you truly can’t take a break. Otherwise they’ll still deduct it even if you say that you didn’t get a break. And they KNOW if im too busy to take a break then I do not have time to be calling the supervisor and proving that I don’t have time. It’s awful

When I was bedside, management would ask you to write a reason down for why you didn’t take a lunch. Lol I don’t know? The persistently poor staffing?

Wouldn’t the hospital avoid liability if something happened while you were working and also off the clock for those 30 minutes?

If my work phone went off and I had to answer it I considered my lunch break interrupted.

as an accountant, budget analyst, whatever, this is basically cutting corners. labor costs are ALWAYS the first cut to make. and its highly illegal. i totally understand

When I was a cna there was a period where Kronos wouldn’t let us clock out unless we said “yes” to every break question. Supposedly it was a “system error”

As a prior manager, I would receive weekly BI reports flagging those who did not take lunch and was instructed to provide progressive discipline. Back at the bedside now and while I often do get a “lunch break,” I would say there’s been at least 7 or 8 times the past year that I did not and I absolutely submitted for missed meal. If you didn’t get it, you didn’t get it. HR first, if no resolve, labor board.

I will also put I didn’t get a break when I didn’t get one. My hospital has the charge “approve” no break but I also add it on my time card. I don’t function well without food.
