@bierevalde: A few days ago, I had the honor to be a guest at @clsu.official @usscclsu which is the biggest state uni in Nueva Ecija, known as the Rice Granary of the Philippines. Despite being far, one of my motivators to come here is to connect with Lakapati/Ikapati who is best associated with this city of the Katagalogan. Lakapati (also known as Ikapati) is the revered pre-colonial Tagalog deity of fertility, agriculture, and cultivated lands. As the “giver of food” and the kindest of all Tagalog deities, they were invoked during planting seasons for abundant harvests. Often depicted as a intersex to symbolize balance, Lakapati is considered a compassionate provider of food and prosperity. #clsu #nuevaecija #decolonization #transgender #explorepage

Even our language is so diverse, complex, and inclusive. Hindi tayo gumagamit ng “she” nor “he,” but rather “siya.” We don’t label someone for what they are, but rather for WHO they are. Napakagandang wika na ipinamana sa atin ng ating mga ninuno. 🥹🫶

We were given a task to paint a Filipino god or goddess in CPAR. Here is our group’s painting we chose Ikapati. It is also exhibited in the hallway of my old high school.

Sa akoang nahinumduman mostly sa mga babaylan kay duha ila ari (YES: duha ang kinatawo) so depende unsa sila manamit bisag unsa pa ila physical appearance masculine man o feminine man. I am respecting your gender perspective and spiritual preferrences.. Go gurl ❤️

This is why I hate Libulan x Sidapa. It's a fake made up story that gets passed around so much that it drowns out THESE FACTS in the discourse surrounding queer history and heritage in the country. We don't need modern fanfiction to attest to our validity and existence in these islands.
