That's not what reverse engineering means. Reverse engineering means taking something apart to see how it works, then trying to replicate the original. What you're doing is called "performing an experiment." you wanted a cookie with more chocolate, so you hypothesized that you could add more by baking pre-made dough on top of a pile of chocolate chips. So you executed the experiment to try and prove your hypothesis.
