Esses reguladores 78xx são ineficientes pra 7v de diferença entre a fonte e o circuito. Ele esquenta e joga energia fora, mesmo sem carga. Bom mesmo é o LM2596 que joga entre 5 a 10% da energia fora e não esquenta, dá pra ajustar pros volts que tu quer e ainda aguenta até 40V na entrada e quase não consome nada sem carga. Precisa de mais componentes como bobina, capacitor e diodo? precisa, mas é melhor 😌 78xx só faz sentido se tu precisa estabilizar uma tensão crítica que a entrada tá só um pouco acima da necessária, por exemplo 7V pra 5V, aí ele é bem melhor que ficar botando diodos em série pra derrubar 0,7v em cada um
