I'm late diagnosed autistic (diagnosed at 37) my son was diagnosed autistic at 3. I have said since I suspected he was autistic (he was about 16 months old) I wouldn't change a single thing about him. I love everything about him, I love that he has special interests, the way he talks, the way he's so comfortable being himself no matter who's watching, his kind, caring, thoughtful little heart- he's perfect even if he's 9 and can't tie his shoes, or struggles to ride a bike and the fact that he will ask for help putting socks on while telling me what dinosaurs lived during each time period and asking me if I think it's sad that T-Rex and Stegosaurus didn't live in the same time period. If you would have asked me the first 36 years of my life- would you be a different person if you could? I would have ABSOLUTELY 100% said yes. After being diagnosed and understanding there was a reason that I felt misunderstood and that I wasn't the only one who's brain worked the way mine does- I wouldn't change myself, I would change the world- and maybe one day collectively we will 💜

Thank you so much for this! I hope to be able to be diagnosed for AuDHD before my financial aid expires in October. I'm 53 and a friend actually helped me with the self diagnosis part. I see it everywhere now when I'm thinking back to childhood memories and wondering why no one ever noticed til I was 51. It's so obvious now. How come no one saw it??
