I shot this on a Sony A7 IV with the Sony 16–35mm GM II. For group photos, sharpness matters more than background blur. I keep my shutter speed around 1/200 to avoid motion blur. I set my aperture to f/4 because anything wider increases the risk of someone falling out of focus in a group. An aperture like f/2.8 can work, but only if everyone is aligned on the same focal plane. Once you have multiple rows or depth between people, depth of field becomes critical. ISO is adjusted as needed based on the available light. At night, that often means pushing ISO a bit higher to keep faces sharp. A little noise is always better than motion blur or missed focus. With tools like Lightroom Denoise or Topaz, you can clean it up while keeping the image natural. Simple settings. Consistent results. Sharp faces always matter more than bokeh.
