Having moved to London ten years ago, I can’t sugarcoat it: it’s a draining city but also offers incredible opportunities. There will be good days and truly awful ones that make you wish you were somewhere else. London isn’t for the faint-hearted; either you love it or hate it, but I personally never regret it. I’ve learned so much, worked in amazing places and met wonderful people I wouldn’t have met if I’d stayed home. My advice is to take it one day at a time. London is relentless but you can also slow down and create a life you want. Be wary of the FOMO culture though. There’s always something happening and you feel guilty for taking your time. As I said, things will always work out eventually. Slow down, take it one day at a time or you’ll burn out quickly. Otherwise, enjoy it and make it yours! You moved at a perfect time now that the sunny days are ahead. And things always work out 🥰.

I moved here 7 years ago. Knew no one at all. Now I’ve made the most amazing network of friends. Unfortunately, they’re all leaving London now. Best advice, join a club. I joined a choir and found some amazing people. I still get very lonely though. Even today I was on my own eating grapes in a park too!

Started over in london almost 10 years ago. No friends, no support system, just me in this big old city. Now? I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I often do things alone, but also with my wonderful chosen family I built here.

I sat in my hammock on my terratza in Battersea today eating grapes 😅 Came to London 1990 as an 18yr old gay man, not a lot of choices back then for places to live & have made the best life for myself. It’s been bluddy hard work but worth it.

I moved to London alone last September! It is hard to begin with, as you said, it’s seeing everyone with friends and you’re by yourself. But I can honestly say I’ve learned to absolutely love my own company and just having the freedom to go and do anything when I have a day to myself.
