@jordxn.simone: what works for me might not work for you. what works for me might not always work for me. It’s all trial and error and that’s okay! #birthcontrol #reproductiverights #storytime #bc #healthcare
yes! I talk about this all the time! due to how a lot of "wellness" influencers talk about birth control, people think it's all one thing! nope, there are SO MANY TYPES!! I use the patch, so many people don't even know that's an option :)

I hate when people have a bad experience with the pill and then try to tell other women not to try it. It doesn't work for everyone but it is the reason i'm alive, and it's just wrong to discourage people from medical care because it might not work for them.

I was on depo and then learned that it increases chances of osteoporosis so I got my hormonal iud 😂

Also - generic vs name brand can be an issue too. I HAD to get the name brand one or my cramps and flow were TERRIBLE.

And IF for any reason, you decide you don't want to be on birth control, then at a MINIMUM, you need to understand and be familiar with your ovulation signs.
The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler is a book everyone ought to read for general knowledge about your body.
I genuinely can't be on birth control - I tried sooooo many pills, the depo, and just cannot get over very specific fears associated with risks of IUDs and implants, so until my husband gets a vasectomy, we do a combo of FAM and barriers or withdrawal depending on time of cycle. I have PCOS and irregular cycles and can still accurately predict my period based on tracking my ovulation (and I don't use OPKs/LH tests).
Whether you choose to be on birth control or not, knowledge is power and knowing how to use FAM can only benefit you!

YES! I really wanted the IUD to work for me but I had weight gain, mood changes, anxiety, irritability. Got it removed and went back to depo last week after having it for 3 years

This! It took me way too long to realize that while I didn’t have any negative reactions to the pill, it was way too much mental load to take it every single day, and I accidentally gave myself extra periods when I would forget pills for multiple days in a row. IUD meant I never had to fucking think about it anymore.

Tried almost everything and finally settled on the arm implant and I got a second one after it expired bc I loved it but the second one messed up my cycle so I might try something else again

Great point! So many friends loved the depo shot. It made me insatiably hungry, nonstop spotting, and depressed. Hormonal has been fine for me. They had to tweak which one but you get there.
