Yeah. Maybe he did repent and if so, great. His repentance does not mean damage wasn’t done. It doesn’t mean the behavior has to be forgotten. IMHO I don’t believe he truly repented. You don’t defend or try to justify what you’re are truly sorry for.

I personally think that people can actually heal and feel regret and change. doesn't mean they should be forgiven, doesn't mean they shouldn't be accountable. but most people are capable of healing and change, and we need to let them.
