If I remember correctly, Mary wasn’t even that religious until she had missy, she made a promise to god that she’ll be religious if missy is delivered safely. I think Mary is a good mom. Yes she had her issues but she obviously genuinely loved all her kids

I think the main problem with Katie is that she is never allowed to have any growth or character development. She learns a lesson and apologizes in one episode, and in the next she is right back to her bad behavior. In Modern Family the characters at least are allowed to learn and change over time but Katie is never given that.

There was multiple times in the series where Ana cat was like stop saying I’m your favorite. You’re isolating me from my siblings this that and the third. She was literally begging her mother to hate her as much as she hates her siblings.
