🚨 Handling shady behaviour👇 When someone does things that feel sly, shady or leave you questioning their motives it can feel really difficult to address. Particularly if it’s something that wouldn’t be apparent to other people. Like this example where someone is explaining things to you that they know you already know in front of others potentially to lead other people to doubt your credibility. I’d recommend addressing this calmly, respectfully and directly using these 4 steps: 1️⃣ Share the behaviour you’ve noticed factually and ask them what the reason is for the behaviour 2️⃣ Give some concrete examples 3️⃣ Call it out by sharing how you’re interpreting their behaviour and the impact. A good way to do this is to say: “When [INSERT BEHAVIOUR] happens I’m telling myself a story that the reason you’re doing this is [INSERT] and I’m really hoping that this story isn’t correct because [INSERT IMPACT] With someone displaying behaviours like this be prepared that they are unlikely to admit to it or be particularly receptive. Because you’re calling them out a conversation like this might make them think twice about doing this again though. 📌 Please be mindful that the approach shown in this video will not fit every situation so always use your own judgement and adapt it to suit your own circumstances.
