It works like a charm for stings. My grandmother taught me when I was little. My kids thought it was witchcraft because the sting cleared up so quick. 😂

What? That’s not money? We plucked them from my grandmother’s yard to play store. We sold sweet pea blossoms, beech nuts, twigs, weeds, and all sorts of natural materials in exchange for those dollar bills (plantain leaves).

Mosquitos love me so I made a salve of plantain, dead nettle, yarrow, witch hazel and calendula. It’s the only thing that has ever helped the BURN from mosquito bites.

The seeds are psyllium husk which will lower cholesterol. It’s what Metamucil is made from.

I do living history and educate people on how plants were used in the 18th century. I have also taught boy scouts while at scout camp how to use the plants around them. I bring a big bunch of plantain for them and they are always amazed that it really works on their bug bites. Just FYI, it can be pronounced plan-tin as well, both are correct, but PLAN-tin makes it less likely to be confused with plantain (the banana). It makes it easier to differentiate which you are referring to. I've just had a lot of people ask when I'm teaching if I'm talking about the banana or if the plant turns into a banana plant, so I always use the plan-tin pronunciation. 😊

Just dont harvest near roads, under bridges/highways, near businesses. not just pesticides sprayed but also all the dirt, grime, exhaust, run off, all go into that plant. Use wisdom when harvesting, also dont harvest 100% of larger plants, leave some to grow back.
