@apriljustinehome: Episode 8 Basement Renovation: flooring & chatting more about the story behind our why. Mental Health Week is coming up May 4-10th. I know there are other moms out there experiencing the same and I'm sending you all the love. After sharing in stories, l've appreciated the personal connections and help shared with me in DM's. These last 6 years have been tough for me as well, story for another time. Flooring is officially installed and we are another step closer to getting our girls into their own bedrooms. Follow along! #basement #bedroom #flooring #MentalHealth
I had these exact symptoms as a kid (ocd, anxiety, “panic attacks”, etc) all of which I was able to turn off when in school - went 22 years as undiagnosed autistic. I would def look into autism and/or adhd 💕

This seems like a super common issue with our sensitive kids- I’m so sorry she’s also dealing. You’re amazing parents! So many suffer in silence! Keep going Maddie!

Sour candy helps stop panic attacks! I used it a lot as a kid!

I’m 27 and I have struggled immensely with mental health issues and was only recently properly diagnosed for things that have now explained why I struggled so immensely and my parents couldn’t help - so as someone who is also an easily overwhelmed individual, serious kudos to your parenting and outlook/support for your kids 🥹🙌🏻

THIS WAS ME!!! I was only diagnosed with ADHD at 29 and it explained all my emotional disregulation and anxiety. SSRI and non stimulant adhd medication have been life changing! Almost 31 and I can’t believe I lived this long without it.

hi idk you but i'm an autistic teenager and everything you've said seems extremely like what i was like as a younger kid. You should definitely look into autism and it might help her to understand what's going on and how you can help her

My Maddie and I both had been diagnosed with ADHD/ODD. It’s tough, but you’ll get through! Keep space for yourself- you can’t pour from an empty cup. 🖤

I highly suggest getting her some noise canceling headphones and some sunglasses so she can block out sounds and light when overwhelmed. weighted toys and blankets can help as well

Sounds like me when I was younger. I got diagnosed with autism and adhd at 20. I always tried to be "okay all the time" and it flipped on me when I had to leave my comfort zones. So going to events, school, or even to see friends, made me feel really sick.

THANK YOU for listening to her. As someone with severe anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia… medicine isn’t a bad thing, it can be empowering and your support will help her move mountains in her journey!

I really wish nothing but the best for her, I’ve been through similar things as her especially with the germs. I truly wish nothing but the best for her. May this new chapter bring nothing the best for her. ❤️

Speaking from experience, having a mom like you when I was such an anxious child made a world of difference. I wasn’t ever made to feel like I should be ashamed of my anxiety, or like I should hide it and ignore it. She got me in therapy, she always let me be open about my feelings, and she encouraged me to try meds when my anxiety was interfering too much with my daily life. You’re doing great and your daughter will appreciate your efforts!

I’ve found hot but comfortable water on the feet and cold compress on the back of the neck or wrists helps reregulate too if you haven’t already tried 😁
