The runner chooses the lane when the fielder has the ball and attempts a tag. The fair/foul line doesn’t matter, that’s not the “baseline”.

She was fine. She didn’t go wide to avoid the tag. She went wide to avoid the catcher. If you have a call it would be obstruction but I would just play on

I don’t play anymore but I know baseball rules, the baseline is established once an attempt to tag is made. You can see she is outside the ‘baseline’ (the chalk line) when the tag is attempted to be made, so the baseline is from where she is standing to the base. You can go three feet out on either side to avoid the tag, so she is safe. Assuming the baseball rules apply to softball.

I don't have obstruction. both feet were inside the runner's path, and the ball/arm were fine. once the catcher had possession of the ball, the runner deviated from the base path less than 3 ft, in my opinion, so legal.
