@nightflightseverywhere: it hits because it describes that confusing space where your heart and your reality don’t match. where someone can hurt you, disappoint you, even break you… and a part of you still holds onto the good in them like it outweighs everything else. it’s not that the pain isn’t real, it’s that the love you felt was just as real, and letting go of that version of them feels harder than holding onto it. but that’s also where it gets dangerous. because loving someone through pain doesn’t always mean it’s deep, sometimes it means you’re attached to who they were or who you believed they could be. real love isn’t supposed to destroy you or make you ignore your own hurt just to keep someone in a good light. it’s powerful, yeah, but it should also be safe. and the real growth comes when you can still acknowledge what you felt… without letting it keep you in something that’s hurting you.
