Yea but that’s wrong though. Your 3.5 could hit your plumb cut (the original 3/12 that you drew) at many different angles. To do it correctly it has to be the inverse angle which is 90 off the 3/12.

If you tried to build a roof system with that thing, it would be so screwed up it couldn’t be fixed. You have to use a framing square with square buttons. But you’re right you are giving an example for a birds mouth maybe I’m jumping the gun and that’s all you’re doing
