@alexweldertravels: The best food country in Southeast Asia? 🤔 Most people think of Thai or Vietnamese food when they have to name the best food country in South East Asia, but for me, I’ve always found Malaysia to be the biggest food heaven in SEA in terms of variety, portions and food culture. I know food culture and origins are a hot issue among many Southeast Asians, especially among Indonesians and Malaysians. Indonesians claim that Malaysians are stealing part of their culture, traditions or food. I personally don’t know too much about this issue and don’t want to get into that argument too much. But I love Malaysia exactly because of this diverse availability and different cuisines you can find here! And you don’t have to travel to different places or cities to explore this variety. Penang or KL have many different cultures and thus cuisines right next to each other! 2 other interesting facts about Malaysia: ~ Malaysia is the most obese food country in all of Asia ~ Malaysians spend more time eating than people in other countries in South East Asia. That tells me something!
