Companies would have to pay us all more if there was reasonable competition. I would feel a lot more empowered in my corporate career if I could leave for an hourly job and still afford life.

Prohibit money speculation, capital gains, and usury, and move workers into the investor column. Things will balance naturally when money is given for labor, not market manipulation.
