What a bunch of by the dealer. My family on my fathers side started in the farming business around 1900 as homesteaders in eastern South Dakota and plowed the fields using horses. Then used steam tractors then gas etc. Then my father got into the equipment side working for Massey Harris around 1947 chasing down, bootleg, combines and selling cream separators. It was transferred out to the Northwest to start up a branch office for Massey Harris and establish a dealer network to sell self leveling combines in the Pacific Northwest. He was on the wrong side of the consolidation with Ferguson. then he went over to.J I Case it was district sales manager for 20 years. Back in the day people do business on a handshake and their word. What I think is going on here is the dealer asking the former to pay half and they cover the other half on warranty what really is going on is that this farmer’s gonna pay him half then the dealer is gonna write up the pump on a full warranty and pocket the farmers cash and Case IH wouldn’t have a clue to what’s going on. Being around this industry with my father in my opinion dealers don’t discount or split the warn you of the farmer and make them pay half. It’s full warranty or no warranty. That’s my opinion on what’s going on here. Well we’re like this gets around real fast in the local farming community. And people talk generally at a local restaurant in the morning or coffee or in the afternoon over a cold beer.
