I always understood that the dancing was necessary in order for both gems to sync. I figured being able to simply fuse through touch meant that the gems fusing had a lot of trust and understanding between one another.

The dancing is to synchronise and at the start of the show they’re highkey a bit of a dysfunctional family, that changes through the course of the show and they can fuse a lot simpler

I think its bc they need to literally syncronize and what better way than through free style dancing, but idk. When they fuse without dancing its usually bc they're all focused on one thing and are basically already syncronized and focused

I know this is a joke but for some of the people who might not know, usually the simple fusions were because they were already on the same wavelength, like they had the same goal or feeling. The dancing was when they needed to “get into the zone” so to speak. 😂

its about the relationship. the dancing symbolizes the harmony. hence why pearl and amethyst dont like/werent good fusing at first, their relationship wasn't where it needed to be.
