We are not called to avoid trials, but to go through them in a way that we are not left broken or traumatized by what we faced. The goal is not escape—it is transformation. The art of life is not avoiding storms—it is learning how to walk through them without carrying the scars of fear, bitterness, and hopelessness for the rest of your life. One of the most powerful stories in the Bible is found in the journey of Paul. While being taken to Rome as a prisoner, his ship was caught in a violent storm. The waves were relentless, the crew lost hope, and some sailors tried to escape in a lifeboat, believing it was their only chance of survival. But God had given Paul a message: stay on the ship. It sounded unreasonable. The ship was breaking apart. The storm was not stopping. Everything around them pointed to disaster. Yet Paul trusted God’s word more than the circumstances he could see. In the end, the storm did not disappear. The ship was destroyed exactly as Paul had been told. But every single person on board survived. Sometimes God does not remove the storm immediately. Sometimes He asks us to stay on the ship. To keep trusting. To keep believing. To remain faithful when everything around us feels unstable. There are seasons when life becomes difficult, confusing, and painful. Our instinct is often to jump overboard and search for our own solution. But God says, “Stay with Me. Trust Me. I will bring you through this.” The storm may leave behind broken pieces, but it does not have to leave behind a broken spirit. God can carry you through the trial and bring you safely to the other side. Faith is not the absence of storms. Faith is staying on the ship when God tells you that you will make it through.
