@worldarchive_edits: Protein synthesis is the biological process by which cells produce proteins using genetic information stored in DNA. It takes place in two major stages: transcription and translation. During transcription, a segment of DNA is used as a template to produce messenger RNA, or mRNA, inside the nucleus. RNA polymerase reads the genetic code, and complementary RNA nucleotides are added to form the mRNA strand. In this process, uracil replaces thymine. After transcription, introns are removed, exons are joined together, and the mature mRNA leaves the nucleus. Translation takes place in the cytoplasm at the ribosome. The ribosome attaches to the mRNA and begins reading its codons from the start codon. Transfer RNA molecules bring specific amino acids by matching their anticodons to the codons on the mRNA. As this continues, the ribosome links the amino acids together with peptide bonds, forming a polypeptide chain. When a stop codon is reached, the completed protein is released and begins folding into its functional structure. In this way, the genetic instructions stored in DNA are converted into the proteins required for cellular structure, function, repair, and regulation. #Science #anatomy #protein #gym #training
