One of my 94 year old residents couldn’t come to breakfast the other day because she’s pregnant and has morning sickness.

My fav resident had 2 baby dolls and one time she was having a bad day and she asked me to care for them for the day because “no child deserves to see their mother upset “ I cried

This is fascinating because as my dad’s Alzheimer’s has progressed I’ve become younger and younger in his mind. He asked someone if they’d be able to babysit me. I’m 36.

My daddy had dementia. I had to build a crib for his baby because he was afraid his baby would roll off of his couch. He had everyone, including his hospice nurse, holding his baby.

My 90 year old resident has been sleeping most of the day and when I tried to wake him up he said “you’d be tired too if you were up all night singing”. He thinks he’s been touring with Reba and George straight 😭

When I first gave my grandma with dementia a realistic bang doll I had because I read about the benefits they can have for dementia. My grandpa said that they would have lots of different nurses come to see the baby doll including the nurses that looked after them on the old ward they were on.

I had a 92 year old patient that said every night "Mom and Dad are picking me up soon." So every single night I helped her pack her suitcase until I "got a phonecall from them" telling me that there was "bad weather coming, and they can't come until tomorrow." And then together, we'd put all her clothes back in her closet "so they don't get wrinkles." She was a sweetheart

Thank you so much for playing into it. My grams had dementia and “adopted” a baby doll after my mom suddenly passed. She named her new baby after her real baby that she lost. The baby doll went everywhere with her and gave her so much comfort.

Had a pt with Alzheimer’s. He literally lite up when ever he saw a baby. Family’s who knew him, let him hold their babies and feed them etc. he was amazing. Found out he and his had fostered over 125 kids in their lifetime. When Charlie was in his final days. Sooo many of them came to say thank you- Charlie and his wife changed the lives of so many of them.
