also when Gene Wilder made his entrance he suggested he should stick his cane in the ground and do a rollie pollie to show Wonka has a sense of humour because he's so serious throughout the rest of the film, the director wasn't convinced until he did it

As excellent as this film is, it actually pisses me off that the grandparents were bedridden until the boy finds the golden ticket, and then grandpa can suddenly dance and go through the entire ordeal with zero mobility issues. I get it, artistic license, but not even a limp, never needs to sit down. I'm disabled; I recently took my wife to DisneySea for our anniversary, and this required I wear knee supporters and be on strong painkillers the entire time, which didn't really work; I was in tremendous pain.
