Half mortal! Half mortal! If you're talking about the library sequence for slowness, that's my favourite section of the book. I think Hadrian's story works best when he gets to decompress from the events in his life. It's why I rank AoM higher than others, you see more of the man than the myth.

People kept telling me to just brute force it through the first two and it’d be worth it… and they were right! This book is what I wish the first two had been like.

I finished the final book last night, and I now feel empty. I thought I was reading a space odyssey. Turns out it was an absolutely stunning Shakespearean drama the entire time.

The whole core concept of the transformation from Hadrian hoping to understand the Cielcin to realizing equal grounds are impossible is such a spectacular development to watch.

If you liked Howling Dark better than this, my gut feeling is you’ll like Disquiet Gods the best—which is my favorite!

I fear you are almost single handedly convincing me to sneak this book up my TBR. I wasn’t the biggest fan of book 1 but I’ve heard such good things about the series!
